Features

To buy a Pixel 5, head over to the Google Store, Google Fi, or one of the many other merchants who are selling the device. Despite having nearly identical pixel density, the 8T has a 120Hz refresh rate as opposed to the Pixel 5’s still-fast 90Hz refresh rate. However, the larger screen results in a larger handset. The OnePlus 8T weighs 188g, while the Pixel 5 weighs 151g.

Where the OnePlus 8T really shines is in terms of performance. The flagship Snapdragon 865 outperforms the Pixel 5’s Snapdragon 765G, particularly in gaming and AI workloads. The 765G, on the other hand, is no slouch for the vast majority of day-to-day workloads. The chip should also improve the battery life of the Pixel 5.

Most apps should not notice a difference in performance, but the OnePlus 8T is unquestionably the superior choice for those who require gaming or more extreme performance.

OnePlus also outperforms in terms of storage. Both phones have a minimum of 128GB flash storage and 8GB LPDDR4x RAM. If you’re willing to spend a little more, the OnePlus 8T has a larger 256GB storage option and 12GB of RAM.

What the Pixel 5 lakhs in raw performance, it more than makes up for with features. Google includes wireless charging, an IP68 rating, and the Google Titan M security chip, which OnePlus’ latest offering does not have. OnePlus, on the other hand, is introducing its blisteringly fast 65W wired charging solution with the 8T. Both support 5G networking, but Pixel 5 customers in the US have the option of using mmWave. In terms of high-end extras, the Pixel 5 comes out on top.

In addition, the two phones take different approaches to photography. The main camera has a 12.2MP sensor, a new 16MP wide-angle lens, and an 8MP selfie camera.Google offers some of the industry’s best photography software and post-processing, such as Night Sight portraits, Super Res Zoom, and enhanced HDR capabilities. When it comes to photography, the Pixel 5 is difficult to beat.

The OnePlus 8T has a 48MP primary sensor and a 16MP wide-angle lens with a wider field of view than Google’s comparable. For more stylish photos, OnePlus has also included low-resolution macro and monochrome cameras. Previous iterations, on the other hand, felt more like gimmicks with undercooked image quality. The 8T has a more versatile camera package, but Google’s software remains the industry standard. We won’t make a final decision on image quality until we conduct a camera shootout.

Both phones have large batteries to power all of this hardware. The OnePlus 8T has a 4,500mAh battery, while the Pixel 5 has a slightly smaller 4,080mAh cell. In most cases, both should last a full day. OnePlus, on the other hand, provides a faster charging solution to get you back on your feet. The Pixel 5, on the other hand, supports wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, allowing you to charge your Pixel Buds and other accessories without the use of a cable.

Google and OnePlus have both included Android 11 in their most recent handsets. Heavy-handed UI changes are more contentious in Oxygen OS 11, but both are feature-rich OS variants that will not disappoint. Google also promises Pixel 5 Android updates until October 2023.

Price

A variety of shops, including the Google Store and Fi, as well as other online stores, sell the Pixel 5 in global markets. Due to the US’s exclusive mmWave 5G capabilities, the phone is slightly more expensive in the US compared to the rest of the globe.

  • Google Pixel 5 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage starts at $699/£599/€629.

The OnePlus 8T prices are in the same ballpark. The larger memory variant, on the other hand, will be slightly more expensive in exchange for 12GB RAM and double the storage. Those with larger media libraries may want to pay the extra $50 for a little more storage space. Unlike some of OnePlus’s previous releases this year, the OnePlus 8T will be available in global markets such as the United States, India, and the United Kingdom. In the latter regions, where an 8GB/128GB variant is available for far less money, the phone is far more competitively priced.

  • The OnePlus 8T with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage starts at $749/£549/Rs. 42,999.

Overall, both handsets provide excellent value for money.

Which should you buy: the OnePlus 8T or the Google Pixel 5?

Choosing a device based on specifications is especially difficult with the OnePlus 8T vs. Google Pixel 5. They’re both very appealing handsets, each with their own set of advantages and disadvantages. However, there is a clear distinction between the two that may assist you in making your decision.

The OnePlus 8T and its high-end Snapdragon 865 processing package are the way to go if you want the best performance possible. So far, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G SoC in the Pixel 5 and the less expensive OnePlus Nord has proven to be plenty fast. The Snapdragon 865, on the other hand, is in a different league. When combined with a 120Hz display, the OnePlus 8T will feel the snappier of the two phones, especially while gaming.

Customers looking for extra premium features, on the other hand, will most likely find what they’re looking for with the Google Pixel 5. An IP68 water and dust resistance rating, wireless charging, and mmWave 5G support in the United States are features we’re used to seeing in flagships costing much more than $1,000. Google can offer those little extra bells and whistles that OnePlus cannot by sacrificing small amounts of processing power.

The decision between these two phones comes down to your preference for the features listed above. The two phones take very different approaches to providing excellent value at around $700. Who, in your opinion, achieves the best balance of hardware and price?
