View the conversations page on the left to chat with people on Snapchat. All conversations are stored here, and it allows you to quickly select a contact with whom you’ve recently spoken so that you can message them without having to search for their name.

The conversations list displays the most recent chats you’ve had with people, and when you’ve had a conversion in the past with someone, an arrow will either appear, indicating that they opened your message and didn’t respond, or a box will appear, indicating that you opened the message last and didn’t respond. When you want to send a snap, there’s also a recent section that displays all of the people you’ve recently messaged.

When you look at your Snapchat recent conversations list, you might notice someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, but their name appears in the recent conversations you’ve had in the last few days.

Why is someone appearing in your Snapchat Recents even though you haven’t spoken to them?

They have unfriended you.

If someone appears in your recents after you haven’t spoken to them in several months/weeks, or if you haven’t spoken to them at all, it’s because they have unfriended you. When someone unfriends you, their name will appear in your recents to notify you that something recent has occurred with that contact.

To ensure that this is the case, exit the recents section and search for their name manually. Hold down on their name once you’ve found it to see if you can still see their Snapchat score. If you can’t see their Snapchat score, it means they’ve unfriended you, which is why they’re showing up in your recents.

You’ve Only Recently Added Them

Another reason someone will appear in your recent list is that you have recently added them. If you’ve spoken to this person recently enough for them to appear in your recent list, it could be a case of you removing them and then adding them back, or them removing you and then adding you back. If you remember doing this recently, that’s why they’re showing up in your recents list.

You don’t interact with that many people.

Another reason you’ll see someone in your recents list even if you haven’t spoken to them in a long time is that you don’t talk to many people. You can see how recent the chats are by going to the conversations list. If you don’t talk to a lot of people, you’ll notice that people you haven’t spoken to in weeks or months will appear in your recents simply because you don’t talk to a lot of people.

They Reacted to Your Account

If they responded to one of your stories recently, this could be the reason they’re in your recent conversations. Snapchat shows people who have recently spoken to you in the recents, so if they recently replied to your storey, that’s another reason you’ll see them there.

Snapchat is having technical difficulties.

Another common reason for seeing someone in your recent conversations is that Snapchat is malfunctioning. Snapchat is notorious for frequently glitching and bugging, displaying things that aren’t supposed to be there. If someone is in your recents and it’s not for one of the reasons listed above, it’s because Snapchat is having a problem.
