  • You can mute someone in Discord to cease receiving notifications when they message you or to silence them in a voice channel.
  • You can’t prohibit another Discord user from messaging you by muting them; instead, you’ll need to block them.

It might be difficult to communicate with individuals over the internet. It’s tough to communicate tone through writing, and it’s simple to talk over somebody in a voice chat.

If you’re in a voice chat with someone who’s typing too loudly, eating too near to the microphone, or otherwise making it difficult to speak, you can just mute them.

Fortunately, Discord provides a variety of alternatives for muting someone. You can mute people on voice channels if you don’t want to hear what they’re saying. You can also mute someone to cease receiving notifications if they’re messaging you too much.

Neither of these settings, however, will prevent someone from texting you, nor will they prevent you from seeing their messages in chats you share. You’ll need to block them in order to accomplish this.

Here’s how to mute users on Discord using the Mac and PC desktop client, as well as the mobile app for iPhone and Android devices.

On Discord, how do you mute someone?

To begin, you can silence someone in the voice channel of a server. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Join the same voice channel as the person you’d like to mute.

2. To access a menu, right-click or tap on their username.

3. Select “Mute” from the drop-down menu. Their audio should be turned off right away.

4. You can also select the “Server Mute” option if you have the appropriate permissions — for example, if you’re an administrator — which mutes their audio for everyone on the server, not just you.

You can mute someone’s message notifications if they’re bothering you too much. It should be noted, however, that this can only be done on Discord’s desktop version.

1.To navigate to your “Home” page, click the Discord logo at the top of your server list on the left.

2. Select “Mute” from the menu when you right-click somebody in your Friends or Direct Messages list.

3. This will bring up a smaller menu where you may choose how long you want them muted for. You select any option for free.
